I am a graduate of Elon College with a BA in Education Grades K-9 and a concentration in Science. I began my teaching career in 1981 at Immaculata Catholic School in Durham, North Carolina. While there, I taught a combination class of fifth and sixth graders in all subject areas. During the years of 1981 thru 1984, I worked at Duke University North Hospital in the Emergency Department, Chemistry and Pediatric Laboratories second shift and weekends. In 1984, I married Kenneth Cameron of Sanford. My husband and I have two daughters, Whitney and Kenleigh. Whitney is a Graduate of Lynchburg College in Virginia. She graduated in 2008 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Kenleigh is a 2011 Graduate of East Carolina University and with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Marriage and Family Counseling.
I began my teaching experience in Sanford in a kindergarten class at McIver School under the direction of Charles Alexander. By October, Broadway Elementary School was needing an additional sixth grade teacher. From 1984-1992, I taught sixth grade at Broadway Elementary School under the direction of Eric Pittard. I started teaching at West Lee Middle School in 1992 when the sixth grade was merged into the middle schools. I taught Math and Science in sixth grade for one year then moved to the seventh grade. I have taught Science in the Seventh grade since 1993. For the last 4 years, I taught both 7th and 8th grade Science. Science is my LOVE! I taught for 33 years and retired in August of 2014.
